Berenice is a small town located about 12 Km south of Marsa Alam in Egypt. It is fulkl of fish, beautiful beaches, and has an excellent therapeutic centre and exciting geological phenomena as well.
Berenice is full of semi-precious gems, and was a hub of economic activity from around 1500 B.C. until the mid-20th century. The city was an important port in Ptolemy's times and was built during the time of Ptolemy II who named it to commemorate his mother name: Berenice. The area is full of ruins including an Ancient Ptolemaic temple. Excavation is still going on this here, especially on the Greco-Roman monuments.
